We couldn’t afford daycare for four children, so I stayed home and raised them. Because of that we were poor. It wasn’t easy back then either. I had no help. Then when I returned to the workforce years later, I couldn’t get a good job, even after going back to college and graduating. And although my children turned out well in spite of it, they still remember many times when our refrigerator was empty. I regret I wasn’t a stronger woman back then.
