There's nothing wrong with wanting to look your best. I'm all for wearing makeup. It's fun anyway - like art. Your face is your canvas. Hair coloring, makeup, and wearing pretty clothes make people feel good. There's nothing wrong with that. And I agree with another commenter - lighting and angle is everything in photos. I could take 2 selfies within a few minutes of each other, and look great in one, and awful in the other. Ofcourse, we want to present our best look, especially for author photos.
